MIA Candied Orange Bar Wins Great Taste Award

9.09.2018

We’re incredibly proud to announce that our MIA Candied Orange bar has won 1-star in the prestigious Great Taste Awards.

Just 25% of entries received the Great Taste 1-star award, which means the product is judged to be ‘simply delicious’ and ‘a food that delivers fantastic flavour’.

Judges also commented positively about the ‘moreish chewy’ candied orange pieces and the ‘long fruity rich notes’ of the Madagascan cocoa.

Co-founder Brett Beach said:

“It’s a fantastic honour for our Candied Orange bar to get this recognition from such an impressive array of judges and from an accreditation scheme that is renowned amongst both the trade and consumers. We launched our brand less than 12 months ago so this is a great way to bring up our first year.”

The Great Taste awards is run by the Guild of Fine Food and over the last 24 years it has been championing the best tasting food and drink products.

With over 120,000 products judged in that time, it’s no surprise that Great Taste is the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme and has been called the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’.

It supports, promotes and mentors artisan food producers large and small, who want to supply the UK independent retail sector and overseas stores selling fine food.

For this reason, the Great Taste logo carries huge weight and is a trusted symbol for shoppers hunting out the greatest tasting treats.

This year’s judging took place at the Guild offices in Dorset and London and saw over 500 judges – made up of buyers, chefs, food journalists, food critics and restauranteurs – come together for 65 different judging days.
